About Kit

Hello!

Welcome to The Kittchen. I am Kit Graham and I write The Kittchen. And I love it. Cooking, eating, traveling, and writing all about it is a dream come true. My goal is to inspire you to get into the kitchen and cook at home, try new restaurants when you are dining out, and to travel to new destinations.

I am originally from Kennebunk, Maine. I grew up in a home where someone was always in the kitchen and the Food Network was the most-watched channel. I learned to cook by helping my parents and by watching hours of Sarah Moulton, Bobby Flay, Ina Garten, Giada De Laurentiis, and the Two Fat Ladies. I was also obsessed with Travelers, a 90s travel show that was on the Discovery Channel; it inspired me to see the world.

I moved to Chicago in 2008 and met my husband, Charles, 7 weeks later. Charles came up with the idea for this site and had friends set it up for me in 2011 and in 2015 I quit my 9-5 job to blog full time.

In the summer of 2020, after years of IVF treatments, Charles and I welcomed our daughter Gwendolyn into the world.

In 2022, I launched a second website, City Guide to Chicago which provides curated guides to Chicago for both locals and tourists.

About The Kittchen

What started as a food and travel site has evolved as my life has changed. Today, will find original recipes and detailed travel guides plus stories about parenting, home decor, and my life.

My recipes are a mix of family recipes and recipes I invent inspired by meals I loved at restaurants and current food trends. My favorite foods are cheese, chocolate, red wine, and tacos. You can find my favorite recipes right here.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro 13

I travel over 100 days a year (pre-covid) and share at least one travel post per week. I love to blend luxury travel with adventure travel. I have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, canoed in piranha filled lakes in the Amazon, cycled along the Mekong River Deltarock climbed in Utah, dog sledded in Lapland, scaled glaciers in Iceland, hiked up volcanoes, kayaked in the Mediterranean, hunted for truffles in Piedmont, and ridden camels in the Sahara Desert all while seeking out the finest hotels and best restaurants.

Peru 28

In 2019, I spent 101 days on a solo trip around the world making stops in Peru, New Zealand, Australia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Nepal, Italy, Tanzania, Portugal, and England. I specialize in creating long-form travel guides that rank in Google search results. You can find links to all my travel posts here.

Since The Kittchen was founded, my work has been featured on sites including Better Homes and Gardens, The Everygirl, Buzzfeed, MSN, The Huffington Post, and TODAY. I have contributed to publications including Spoonful and Midwest Living and worked with brands including Coca-Cola, TripAdvisor, Expedia, Jewel-Osco, and Minted.
