Some foods get a national holiday, but grilled cheese gets a whole month. Today kicks off National Grilled Cheese Month, 30 full days devoted to one of my favorite foods. To celebrate, I am sharing a list of my best grilled cheese recipes.
Grilled cheese can be breakfast, lunch, dinner, or an appetizer. Some of these are quick and easy meals, while others are over the top creations or fun ways to repurpose leftovers. I’ve got recipes for spaghetti grilled cheese made with garlic bread, baked potato grilled cheese with bacon, and a scrambled egg grilled cheese.
Grilled cheese is one of those universally loved foods, and it is one of the classic comfort foods. Somehow it seems to tastes even better on a cold day. I love how a grilled cheese can be as simple as buttered bread with cheese in the middle that gets toasted, or as inventive as you want. I almost always have the basic ingredients on hand, and usually I can scrounge around in my kitchen to find a couple of extra ingredients. It’s something that I can make even when I don’t think I have any food in the house.
The Best Grilled Cheese Recipes:
When I was a child, I wanted to have grilled cheese for every day. I don’t think that my mother gave into this, but I have always loved a grilled cheese. What is better than butter toasted bread and melted cheese? The combination of carbs and cheese is my love language. Serve it with tomato soup and you have one of my favorite meals.
And just in case you want to pair your grilled cheese with a classic tomato soup, here is my roasted tomato soup recipe. It’s made with herb roasted tomatoes that get pureed and thinned out with some broth. It is a recipe that is easy to prepare and it freezes really well.
