Restaurant Spotlight: Lulu's

Published: Oct 5, 2012 · Modified: Jun 21, 2018 by Kit · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

20121005-131438.jpgI usually pack my lunch, but sometimes I take advantage of the wide variety of lunch options by my office. I work in Evanston, the suburb directly above Chicago, and the location of Northwestern's campus. Working across the street from a college campus means that I have lots of lunch options. My favorite place for lunch is Lulu's Dim Sum and Then Sum.

My favorite item on Lulu's menu is their bento box. More cultures need to start serving bento boxes because they are perfect for people like me who can never decide what to order. Let's discuss all the wonderful items in this bento box:

Vegetable Spring Roll with a mustard/red chili sauce - The mustard chili sauce is a little sweet and a little spicy. The spring roll is fried to perfection and filled with veggies.

Pork Pot Sticker- It is toasted and crisp on the outside and full of juicy pork on the inside.

Sesame Noodles with a Peanut Sauce - I love these noodles. The peanut/sesame combination is really good. I like that the sauce has big chunks of peanut.

Chilled Steamed Spinach with Tofu and a Sesame Vinaigrette - A healthy dose of spinach in a tasty sauce.

Chicken Ginger Salad - This is one of my favorite all time salads. The chicken is really tender and flavorful. The crispy wantons and ginger dressing are delicious. This salad is a great mix of flavors and textures.

The chicken ginger salad is available as a stand alone entrée, while the other items are available as appetizers. I am committed to ordering the bento box since I love all the different foods inside of it. Seriously, bento boxes are the best. I wish bento boxes were served at every restaurant so I would never have to make decisions.

I usually get takeout because I am in a rush, but Lulu's has a nice dining room. It is modern and casual, and usually filled with the business crowd at lunch. It is one of the pricier lunch options, with the bento box coming in around $12. In my opinion, it is the best lunch in Evanston so I don't mind the price. Check Lulu's out if you are in Evanston - maybe I will meet you for lunch.

Lulu's is located at 804 Davis Street in Evanston.
