Flywheel and my Weekend Routine

For the first time in years, I stuck with working out all year long. I am feeling pretty great about it too. The big change was that I discovered Flywheel, a stadium-style spin studio with amazing instructors. It's conveniently located a few blocks from my home, and it's sandwiched between the grocery store, the bank, the florist, Starbucks, and Walgreens - so it fits in with all of my errands. This is extremely important this time of year when I strategically plan each and every trip outside to limit the time I spend in the sub-zero temps.

Remember when I hurt my knee climbing a glacier in Iceland back in July? It was the combination of physical therapy and Flywheel that helped me to recover. I started going to more and more classes as my knee started to feel better, and I worked up to going to a class every day in September.

I am not one of those people who loves working out, but when you eat as much as I do, working out isn't an option. Even though December is so frantically busy, I have been making a point to go to class a few times a week. The best way to shed those few holiday pounds is to not gain them.

Going to Flywheel has become a big part of my routine. On weekends Charles comes with me and it has become something that we look forward to each week. We like to go to a 9:30 class so that we can still sleep in a bit, and then we get brunch together after class.

Our favorite brunch in Old Town is at Le Pain Quotidien (there is never a line) and I order the Mushroom and Goat Cheese Omelet every time (Lucy, our waitress knows this). Sometimes thinking about breakfast helps me get through the ride.

Do you have a weekend routine or a workout that you love? I would love to hear about it in the comments!

I am excited to be a Flywheel Ambassador - and if you are in Chicago and want to go to a class at the Old Town studio together let me know!
