Who is excited about cooking up cozy meals at home this winter? These days, date night needs to happen at home, and today I am sharing a recipe to create a memorable meal at home.
The secret ingredient to making this meal extra special is FAGE Sour Cream. I used FAGE Sour Cream to whip up my sister Kelly’s Horseradish Cream Sauce. This sauce takes steaks to the next level and helps to make the meal more like something you would have in a restaurant.
Making the sauce is easy. The base of the sauce is FAGE Sour Cream. Then you add some freshly grated horseradish and lemon zest, a bit of chopped thyme, salt, pepper, and a touch of mayonnaise. The total prep time is just minutes. Prep this sauce before you start cooking the steaks, this will give the flavors a chance to marry together.
You are probably familiar with FAGE’s Greek Yogurt, but the company also makes the best thick creamy tangy all-natural sour cream. You can learn more about this new product on the FAGE website. FAGE Sour Cream makes this sauce indulgent and irresistible.
Kelly serves this sauce with all cuts of steak. I used NY Strip Steaks but we have served it with Skirt Steak and Beef Tenderloin in the past. You can serve it in a bowl alongside the steak or you and spread it across sliced steak.
I also added a big scoop of FAGE Sour Cream to some baked potatoes. In my house, if we are having steak, we are having potatoes. Steak and potatoes just go together. So I baked some potatoes. Once they were soft on the outside with crisp skin on the outside, I sliced them open and added some cheese and a scoop of sour cream. I garnished them with a bit of fresh chive.
I love this recipe because it comes together quickly. It’s formal enough to serve for the holidays or to celebrate a special occasion, but it’s easy enough to make on a weeknight.
Kelly’s Horseradish Cream Sauce:
- 1 cup FAGE Sour Cream
- 3-4 tablespoons Freshly Grated Horseradish
- 2 tablespoons Mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoon chopped Fresh Thyme
- 2 teaspoon Lemon Zest
- 1/4 teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon Sea Salt
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir until thoroughly mixed. Serve with steak.
