IMG_0015Green Onion Cheddar Scones are a great savory breakfast. The recipe for these scones came from the Standard Bakery Co. Pastries. The bakery is in Portland, Maine and my mother gave me their new cookbook for Christmas. The book is beautifully photographed and the recipes are well written and easy to understand. I thought that tackling a recipe from the cookbook would give me an opportunity to try out my new camera, so I let Charles pick a recipe. He chose Chive and Cheddar Scones, but after trips to two grocery stores I failed to find chives and used green onion instead.

I am not going to share the recipe, but I do urge you to buy the cookbook. The recipe is not available online, and I feel it would be wrong to post it. I only post recipes that are my own - or have been altered enough to become my own. I do sometimes link to recipes that are online that are not mine. I am looking forward to working my way through the cookbook this winter as I learn to use my new Canon Rebel.

The scones were a big hit with friends and coworkers. The recipe did make more scones than the recipe said, so I shared them at Sunday Night dinner and at work the next day. At SND we ate the scones with John's chili and it was a great combination.

  • Lemon Ricotta Pancakes are a weekend brunch that will make a lazy Saturday morning feel special. The ricotta gives the pancakes a light, almost spongy texture. The ricotta flavor is mild, while the bold taste of lemon takes center stage.
