Dessert cocktails are a simple and fun addition to holiday celebrations. Serving dessert cocktails, like these Boozy Holiday Milkshakes, is an easy way to kill two birds with one stone. These milkshakes are a dessert on their own, but they would also pair beautifully with anything chocolate. The best part is that you only need two ingredients (three if you add whipped cream) and a blender to create this sweet seasonal milkshake.
I am a firm believer that a festive straw completes a cocktail. I used straws that have candy cane stripes. Of course you could add a real candy cane as a garnish. Another fun, and caffeinated variation is to add a shot of chilled espresso to the drink. This would be perfect for New Years Eve since it would give people that little boost of energy that they may need to make it to midnight.
Full disclosure… food blogging during the winter is hard. Daylight hours are scarce. For this reason I take my photos on weekend mornings, which meant that I was mixing up these milkshakes at 9am on Saturday before leaving for Maine. The problem was that the milkshake was too delicious to waste, and I might have had it for breakfast. That is one of the things that people don’t realize about food bloggers, we always eat things at weird times. While, this milkshake is great anytime of the day, I think it is most appropriate as an evening treat.
Total time: 5 minutes
Servings: 4
You will need:
1 Cup Kerrygold Irish Creme Liqueur
3 Cups Vanilla Ice Cream
a blender
Whipped Cream is optional
Sidenote: my husband as since eaten all the gummies on the gingerbread house.
Step 1:
Add small scoops of the ice cream to the blender. Then pour the Kerrygold Irish Creme Liqueur over.
Step 2:
Blend on a medium setting, stopping to stir if necessary. You want the milkshake to be swirling around in the blender.
If you know someone who doesn’t have a blender, it would make a wonderful Christmas gift. I went for years without owning a blender, but now I use it all the time. When I am not using it to make milkshakes, I use it to make pureed soups, like tomato soup.
