This summer continues to be busy, and I have attended some wonderful events recently. Here is the rundown. My friend Anne and I went to the Taste of Chicago to attend an event at The Good Life Embassy, where we learned about Spanish Olive Oil. We also got to meet Chef Marc Murphy from the Food Network. Then I went to the City Winery to see my old friends Yarn perform. I highly recommend City Winery. It is a bar/restaurant/music venue in the West Loop. The music venue has this great laid back vibe. Guests sit a small tables sipping wine during shows.
The next night I was very lucky to attend a dinner hosted by Lakeshore Beverage that paired cuisine by James Beard Award winner Chef Hubert Keller with beer selected by Brewmaster George Reisch. This dinner will get a full recap next week, but let’s just say that Wagyu Beef Cheeks were involved.
Charles and I discovered the many lunch options at Rustle + Roux in the Franklin Building in the Loop (227 West Monroe). The upscale food court features seven different eateries. I loved Mercadito’s fast casual concept. I chowed down on mushroom tacos, chips, guac, and fried plantains.
Charles and I spent a weekend in Charleston, and I am still working on recapping all of the fabulous restaurants we explored.
The Windy City Blogger Collective went to ROOF on theWit twice this week. First for their Movie Monday, and then again for The Runway, a fashion show put on by the Shops at North Bridge. (photo from @fancynancista)
I went to a fascinating talk by Jeff Kauck at the Apple Store. Jeff is a well known Chicago food photographer, and I loved listening him speak about his personal photography and the work he does for clients.
And my dear friends What RU Wearing and the Windy City Epicurean hosted an evening of cocktails at the 52Eighty rooftop.
Want to hang out next week? Check out this great event that I am speaking at on Monday.
