There are parties.... and then there are parties that involve sharks, and stingrays, and whales. Chicago's spectacular aquarium, The Shedd Aquarium has asked me to be the official food blogger at their signature summer soiree, BLU. This is a party that shouldn't be missed. It combines a Brazilian theme with a great cause, food from some of Chicago's top restaurants, and some distinctly "Shedd" entertainment including an aquatic show. Guests will also be treated to music, dancing, and fireworks. At midnight the after party begins at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel.
The Shedd Aquarium is one of the most unique party venues in Chicago. The terrace offers a view of the entire Chicago skyline from across Lake Michigan. Inside guests can browse the aquarium's galleries visiting animals including sea lions, penguins, and dolphins. Shedd is home to 32,000 animals, and the proceeds from this event go towards animal care, sustainability, learning initiatives, and conservation.
BLU has a stellar lineup of Chicago restaurants that will be participating in the event. Some of my favorites include Chicago Firehouse, SushiSamba, Vanille Patisserie, Rockit Bar, and Tesori. As part of Shedd's commitment to sustainability, several of the restaurants are participating in the Right Bite program which focuses on raising awareness of sustainable seafood choices.
