3 Travel Outfits I Love

Published: Jul 6, 2017 · Modified: Feb 18, 2018 by Kit · This post may contain affiliate links · 8 Comments

How do you go about packing? Some people pack clothing following a certain color scheme, while others plan out every outfit. Over time I have created my own system. I pack three types of travel outfits that I love and bring on every trip. Let me break it down for you.

1. I always pack a couple black dresses that can transition from day to night. I absolutely love a classic black dress, and I have a growing collection. Dresses take up very little space in a suitcase, and they can easily be dressed up with some jewelry.

The best thing about dresses is that they are a complete outfit, somehow I struggle when it comes to pairing shorts and shirts.

2. Jeans and literally any top. Jeans go with everything, and they can be worn again and again without looking dirty. I always pack two pairs of jeans, and then a handful of tops to go with them.

I don't plan out my outfits, I just figure that jeans can be worn with anything. When it comes to brands, I love Old Navy jeans. Sure, I have tried more expensive brands, but I think that Old Navy look the best - and they last a long time. I have been wearing my current pairs for over a year.

I pack a variety of tops, casual tees, more formal blouses, and a blazer for layering. I try to pack items that won't wrinkle.

3. I bring at least one athleisure outfit with me since most of my trips involve some hiking. I will bring a pair of leggings, and a tank top and long sleeve shirt. I absolutely love Flywheel's leggings -  Flywheel is the spin studio that I go to, and somehow their leggings are the most comfortable and most flattering. If I am going to do serious hiking, I bring my Keen hiking boots, otherwise, I just stick to basic sneakers.

Plus - a waterproof jacket with lots of pockets. Rain happens and I think it is more practical to pack a rain jacket than an umbrella. Umbrellas are bulky and clumsy to use.

A rain jacket can be folded up, and it can be worn to keep me warm even when it isn't raining.

What are your travel essentials? I would love to hear about them in the comments! And if you want to read more about packing, check out these blog posts: What to Wear on a Long Flight, How to Pack a Bag for a Day of Sightseeing, and How to Fit Everything in Your Carry-Ons.
