Our 5 Year Anniversary!

Published: Jul 7, 2017 · Modified: Feb 18, 2018 by Kit · This post may contain affiliate links · 6 Comments

It's been 5 years since Charles and I got married. Somehow it feels longer. Is that weird? I thought that it would be fun to take a look back at our wedding since I never really shared many photos on the blog!

We got married in my hometown, Kennebunkport, Maine. Thunderstorms were heading our way, but they missed us, the skies cleared, and we had the most beautiful seaside wedding in a boathouse built on silts where the Kennebunk River meets the sea.

My Mom handled most of the planning. I didn't really care about the details, I just wanted great music, fun people, and plenty to drink. I let my brother pick the cake and he did a fantastic job. Jeff surprised us at the end of the night with fireworks - it was the best surprise!

Our first dance was to Hootie and the Blowfish's "Hold My Hand". I listen to the Music Choice 90s station on television all the time, and one day it came on and we picked it. We didn't put a lot of thought into it, but I love it because we randomly hear it come on the radio, or at bars, and it makes me smile.

I found my wedding dress online and instantly knew I wanted it - I saw it a month before we got engaged and had my heart set on it. It was the only dress I tried on.

I searched and searched for a party dress to change into for the rehearsal (thank goodness I had one, it was one of the hottest days ever in Kennebunkport). I knew I wanted a dress with feathers on the bottom and sequins on top, and I found this dress at the last minute. I still have it in my closet.

We honeymooned in Greece, stopping in Athens, Santorini, and Mykonos. I remember it being so hot everyday that we thought we would melt. Don't we look hot and sweaty and so young here?

We loved Greece because it had just the right mix of historical sites to explore and seaside for relaxing.

While we were in Santorini we went on a catamaran ride, and we went swimming. Charles likes to tell people that I am such a bad swimmer that he thought I was drowning.

Oh Charles, he might make fun of my poor swimming skills, but he is a pretty great husband/taste tester/reluctant hand model. This site wouldn't exist if he didn't have it created for me.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

The wedding photos are by the talented Meredith Perdue.
