Ladies, I think we tend to pack too much makeup when we travel. I know that I keep my makeup in a big bag, and I used to just grab the whole thing and bring it with me when I traveled. Now I have a “less is more” philosophy when it comes to packing and wearing makeup on vacation. The less you pack, the more space you have for other things, and the less you wear the faster you can get out of your hotel room and explore.
Today I am sharing my makeup packing list. I am very loyal when it comes to makeup brands, and I have been using these products for years. These are all of my favorite products, and I am linking right to them for you. One key to bringing on carry on luggage is to be able to fit all of your liquids in one bag, and I am sharing my secrets for packing everything I need and nothing extra.
Mascara is important when you are blond, otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to see my eyelashes. I love Benefit products, and I use Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara and They’re Real Eyeliner. I like to double up on mascara, so I bring Maybelline’s Falsies Angel Push Up Waterproof Mascara too. My eyebrows are super blonde, so pencil is a must and I think that Revlon’s Eyebrow Fantasy Pencil and Gel is the best because it darkens and tames brows. Sometimes I wear eyeshadow, and I like a cheap Wet N Wild trio that I picked up forever ago, that they still make.
I am a big fan of MAC’s foundations and concealer. The waterproof foundation lasts all day, and gives me the coverage I want without being too thick. I like Bobbi Brown’s Sheer Loose Powder to help set everything so it will last all day. I love Kiehl’s Powerful Wrinkle Reducing Cream, it has SPF 30 in it, so it two products in one. I use it at night before I go to bed, and again in the morning before I put my makeup on. It gives SPF coverage without being too thick or greasy. I use Burt’s Bee’s Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleansing Towelettes to remove my makeup before I go to bed.
Glossier makes amazing lip balms, and I often layer some lipstick on top. Lately, my go-to color has been Revlon’s Ultra HD Lipstick in Gladiolus, it is just the right pinkish red summery color. My favorite fragrance is Jo Malone’s Peony & Blush Suede, it’s floral without being over-the-top girly. They sell one-ounce bottles that are just the right size for travel.
My hair can be unruly, and I recently discovered a Japanese hair wax that tames flyaways. It’s lavender scented, it isn’t greasy, and a little bit goes a long way. To apply it, I rub some on the palm of my hand, pet it onto my head smoothing the flyaways, and then use a brush to brush it into my hair. The hairstylist at the Steve Harvey Show introduced me to the product and honestly, I got tired of editing my flyaways out of vacation photos.
When it comes to makeup tools – I bring just a tiny hairbrush, mini tweezers, an eyelash curler, and a brush to apply powder. I bring a nail file, and I learned that when I am traveling for more than 2 weeks I need to pack toenail clippers. I pack a small hair straighener too, it is cheap and has 25 heat settings.
I am obsessed with manicures – so I always bring a little bottle of nail polish with me when I travel. I usually bring a bottle that matches the nail color I picked for my trip so that I can just touch up chips as I need to. If things get really bad I will cave in and buy nail polish remover and give myself a fresh manicure.
I also wanted to give some insight into the other items that go in my liquids bag. I wear contacts, so I always bring contact lens solution and some spare contacts. A small tube of toothpaste goes in the bag too. Sometimes I will pack some sunscreen, but I prefer to get a big bottle of sunscreen at the airport after I have made it through security.
That’s it! Everything fits into the blue bag, and I can easily pull out the liquids bag at airport security. What do you bring with you when you travel?
