The coronation of King Charles III is taking place on Saturday, May 6th. Here is everything you need to watch the event and throw a fabulous watch party – including Coronation Bingo Cards!
How to Watch the Coronation
Due to the time difference, Americans will need to wake up early to watch the coronation events live. American news stations including ABC, CBS, and NBC, seem to be beginning their coverage at 5 a.m. ET. The King’s Procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. ET.
The coronation ceremony will be about two hours long and will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury. It is during this ceremony that St. Edward’s Crown will be placed on King Charles’s head and he will receive the orb and scepters.
After the ceremony, there will be a longer procession, The Coronation Procession, which will end at Buckingham Palace. Upon returning to the palace, the royal family will make an appearance on the balcony.
Keep your eyes out for First Lady Jill Biden, who will be in attendance representing the United States.
Sunday Events
A coronation concert is taking place at Windsor Palace on Sunday, May 7th. Performers include Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Andrea Bocelli.
Coronation Party Menu
I created a menu based on Afternoon Tea, which is the most British meal I could think of. It might not quite be breakfast food, but I think it is an appropriate way to celebrate this historic event.
Roasted Strawberry Crepe Cake
Tea Sandwiches – 3 Ways
Crown Cookies
Sparkling Strawberry Pimm’s Cocktail
Vanilla Scones
Here are the printable Coronation Bingo cards!
To make watching the coronation even more fun, I have put together a game of Coronation Bingo! I made four different printable Bingo cards so you can play along while you watch.
If you use them, I would love to see them in Instagram Stories (just tag @thekittchen). To print, click on each card, and they will individually open in a fresh window for you to print from.
