If I told you that some of the best tacos I have ever had were from a little restaurant in Geneva, Illinois, would you believe me? This morning I traveled to Geneva, which really is the cutest little town out there, for some blogging work with Aldi. My coworker Max is from Geneva and he very highly recommended Bien Trucha. So today when 8 food bloggers met up and needed to have lunch, I lead them on a 4 block walk in the freezing cold, promising them amazing tacos completely relying on Max's recommendation to impress everyone. Lucky for me, Max was right! Bien Trucha is incredible! If you are in Chicago, it's worth the 1 hour 15 minute drive (plus you should see Geneva).

Bien Trucha is small and casual. The menu consists of tacos, tortas, and a large margarita menu. They had a lively lunch crowd, but were able to make room for our table of 8 really quickly. We started our meal with chips and guacamole. The chips were fresh, light, and crunchy. The guacamole was classic guacamole that let avocado be the star of the dish.

Then we ordered a wide variety of tacos. Tacos come in orders of four, which makes them perfect for sharing. Bien Trucha's namesake taco has skirt steak, chorizo, chihuahua cheese, and roasted tomatillo salsa. I was a bit skeptical of the skirt steak/chorizo combination but I thought it was great. The Pastor Tacos, pictured above were also a hit.

The crowd favorite was the Pollo Taco. Tender shredded chicken and potato hash were wrapped in tortillas, lightly fried, and covered with crema, queso fresco, and salsa. We got a double order of the Pollo Tacos after it was recommended by our waiter, and were were very glad that we did. I loved how crispy and crunchy the tortillas were. These were some of the best tacos that I have ever had.

Bien Trucha is a restaurant that I wish I lived closer to. The menu has wonderful variety, the atmosphere is fun, and the tacos are remarkably good. The prices are very reasonable. The total price, including tip, per person was $23 - and we ordered a large amount of food.

Bien Trucha is located at 410 West State Street in Geneva, IL. They do accept reservations.
