I just finished up 28 weeks of Invisalign. I’ve gotten so many questions about the process so I thought I would answer the FAQs here. Plus, I am sharing 14 weeks Invisalign results photos and 28 week Invisalign results photos!
After years of putting it off, I am finally getting my teeth fixed. Again. I had braces for a long time when I was a teen, but my teeth moved. I developed a noticeable gap between my front teeth. I ended up having my teeth bonded together to hide the gap, but it was only a temporary fix. Over time, more teeth moved and I needed a smile makeover.
I have done 2 Invisalign Cycles and I am so happy with my results!
What to Know About Invisalign:
How much does Invisalign cost?
The cost can vary. I went to Dentologie in Chicago and I paid $3000 for my first two cycles (this isn’t sponsored). Additional cycles are $300 each. Dentologie is a big practice with lots of Invisalign patients which means that they are able to offer Invisalign at a lower price. If you are interested in Invisalign, shop around since prices vary at different practices.
How long does it take?
Each cycle is 14 weeks and I started with two cycles. You go in for a check in after the first cycle and your next set of aligners gets ordered. It will take 2-3 weeks for the new aligners to come in.
Can I just do Invisalign on the top or bottom?
I was told that I needed to have aligners on both the top and bottom in order to improve my bite. I was only concerned with my top teeth, but I am thrilled with how much straighter my bottom teeth are. I also think that if I only straightened my top teeth, my bottom teeth would be noticeably less straight in comparison.
Will clear “buttons” be put on my teeth?
It depends on your situation. I had about 20 buttons placed on my teeth. They are somewhat visible when I am not wearing the aligners. I think that the buttons help to speed up the process.
Does it hurt?
The first week was somewhat painful. I took Tylenol and ate soft foods for the first few days. Once I got used to it, I didn’t notice any pain.
Do I need to wear the aligners all day?
Yes. They say you need to wear them for at least 18 hours a day. I only take them out for meals. Usually I am at home so I can brush my teeth before putting the aligners back in.
Can people tell when you wear Invisalign?
They aren’t totally invisible, but it is better than having braces. The cleaner you keep your Invisalign the more “invisible” they will be.
Invisalign Results
My 14 Week Invisalign Results
I was told that the first cycle is all about setting things up. I wouldn’t see big changes until the second cycle.
My 28 Week Invisalign Results
The gap between my teeth is nearly gone. I still have a very slight gap between my front teeth so I am doing one more 14 week cycle. I made a mistake when I had my braces taken off too soon when I was a teen and I don’t want to make that same mistake again.
I will check in again once I finish my third Invisalign cycle.
