Valentines Party

It seems like mother nature just dumped snow everywhere, and it is easy to get a bit stir crazy when the snow traps you inside. Last weekend I made for most of my time indoors and I invited my friends Arin, Erin, and Nicole over. We made Valentines while snacking on mimosas, Magnolia Bakery cupcakes and cookies, and conversation hearts. It was a great way to catch up with girlfriends while preparing for Valentine's Day.

Hosting a Valentines Party is really simple. I love to make valentines like the ones I made when I was a kid, with doilies, craft paper, and glitter. I gathered all of the scissors, glitter, craft paper, and glue that I could find in my home. Then headed over to a craft store to buy extra materials like heart shaped doilies, stickers, and washi tape. I set out all of the supplies, made a pitcher of mimosas, and arranged the cupcakes and cookies on a platter. Then we got to work making custom Valentines for our loved ones.

Nicole even brought over wax seals to close up our love notes. It was a fun finishing touch for our homemade Valentines. Of course I can't share photos of the Valentines, since I don't want to ruin any surprises.

Magnolia Bakery very kindly sent over some of their special Valentine's Day confections, including chocolate covered strawberry cupcakes, sweet sayings cupcakes, and his and hers lips and mustache cookies. The chocolate covered strawberry cupcakes - a strawberry cupcake, filled with strawberry cream, and topped with chocolate ganache, were my personal favorite.

My friend Nicole brought over Kalla's gorgeous Rosa & the Artist bouquet, which comes in a playful vase. The flowers are garden roses and dondo succulents, and the coolest part is that the succulents can be replanted. Kalla's services extend beyond florals, you can add chocolates, wine, and a note on customizable stationary to your order. Trust me gentlemen, a delivery from Kalla is a sure fire way to score major points with your lady.
