Yesterday the entire city of Chicago drank all day long. Chicago takes St. Patrick’s Day pretty seriously. The Chicago River is dyed green. There are multiple parades. And bars are packed all day and night. Bars open at 9 or 9:30 am on St. Patrick’s Day so things get a little crazy. Needless to say, Chicagoans are not feeling so hot today. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day here are some of my hangover cures.
My #1 cure is Pedialyte. It is made to re-hydrate kids who are sick. It is basically super strong Gatorade. It is a bit syrupy. I recommend drinking 1 cup mixed with some water. Try to remember to drink it before bed – otherwise have it first thing in the morning.
When I wake up after a night out I drink Pedialyte and then take some Advil. Charles prefers to have Alka Seltzer.
Ginger Ale is important to have on hand if you actually get sick. It will settle your stomach. You must buy Canada Dry brand – it is the only brand I can find that still has real ginger in it.
Five Hour Energy is very helpful if you need to accomplish anything the day after a big night out.
Other things that make me feel better:
- Water and lots of it.
- Fried potatoes in any form.
- Gatorade.
- A mimosa.
What is your hangover cure?

I give the kids Pedialyte so it's always on hand. I'll remember that next time.
I find a glass of water at bed with two Advil helps. Followed by egg, ham and cheese on a bagel for breakfast and chocolate milk.

Lots of water, Emergen-C and a giant deli sandwich. I should have read this yesterday!

A couple of B12s, gatorade and lying on my cool, tiled bathroom floor! Haha. I want to try the Pedialyte!

Trust me - Pedialyte is amazing. I always keep it in my fridge. It is perfect to have on hand - especially on weeknights that get rowdy even though you have to go to work in the morning!
