The easiest Christmas dessert- Christmas tree brownie bites!

I was so pleased with how adorable these Christmas Tree Brownie Bites turned out! This is the perfect recipe for someone who prefers crafting over baking.

I used a basic boxed brownie mix to make the brownies, and then I cut them into tree shapes, used pretzel sticks as tree stumps, and added melted white chocolate that I dyed green and some sprinkles. Then end result is a bit sized dessert that is almost too cute to eat!

While you could choose to use a cookie cutter to turn the brownies into tree shapes, I found that using a biscuit cutter (you could also just use a glass) to cut the brownies into circles, and then slices the circles into six pieces worked very well.

The most challenging part of this recipe is actually melting the white chocolate. You need to be careful not to overheat the chocolate because it will become hard to work with. I found that the trick is to use a double boiler (a pot with steaming water covered with a bowl holding the chocolate).

Follow three important rules: don’t let the bowl touch the water, don’t let the water boil, and stir the chocolate frequently. This should keep the chocolate at the right temperature and keep it easy to work with.

Last night I hosted a little holiday gathering with my friends Debi, Jocelyn, and Heidy at Debi Lilly’s DL Loft, and we added these Christmas Tree Brownie Bites to the dessert bar that Debi had set up. I love the idea of a dessert bar. Debi arranged all sorts of small desserts and even included small paper bags decorated with cute sayings so that party guests could take their sweets to go.

You could use green frosting instead of the white chocolate, but I liked the white chocolate because it dries hard, so that you can pack up this dessert without worrying about it becoming a mess.

Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 25 minutes
Total Time 45 minutes
Servings 12

Ingredients

  • 1 Box of Brownie Mix
  • And the ingredients called for on the brownie mix box
  • 24 small Pretzel Rods
  • 1/2 cup of White Chocolate Chips
  • Green Food Coloring
  • Sprinkles
  • Parchment Paper

Instructions

  1. Line the bottom of two 8x8 pans with parchment paper. Heat your oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Prepare the brownies according to the directions on the box, and divide the mix between the two pans.
  3. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the brownies comes out clean.
  4. Once fully cooked, let the brownies cool.
  5. Remove the brownies from the pan, and cut into circles with a biscuit cutter. Then slice each round into six wedge-shaped pieces. Break the pretzel rods in half, and stick them into the bottom of the wedges.
  6. Then melt the chocolate. Make a double boiler by pouring water into a pot and heating it over medium-low heat. Once the water is steaming, add a bowl on top. Pour the chocolate chips into the bowl and stir them until they melt. Then add the food coloring.
  7. One by one spread the melted white chocolate over one side of the brownies and immediately top with sprinkles.
  8. Repeat until you have decorated all of the brownie bites.
