Did you know that my darling seaside hometown hosts a food, wine, and art festival? The opportunity to attend was something that I couldn’t pass up – so my dear friend the Windy City Epicurean and I are heading to my hometown on June 3rd attend the Kennebunkport Festival. Maine is simply magical in the summer, and Kennebunkport is perhaps the best town in the state for foodies.

This is my first year attending the festival, but my parents are seasoned veterans. They say that the must attend event is POP the Kennebunks, which is put on by Cellardoor Winery. Unlike other food and wine fests – tickets to each Kennebunkport Festival event are sold separately, making it one of the more affordable food and wine fests. Tickets for many events are still available online.

We have planned out quite the itinerary. In addition to attending the festival, WCE and I are going to visit several restaurants and venture up to Portland. Our Kennebunkport Festival itinerary looks something like this:

Tuesday June 3rd: After Party at Bandaloop – singer songwriter Connor Garvey is performing. I have had the pleasure of meeting him and seeing him perform in Chicago before and I am looking forward to a night of sipping wine and enjoying his music.

Thursday June 5th: POP the Kennebunks – photos of this event from past years have blown my mind. Each year the event takes on a new theme and this year it is Morocco. This party takes place in a giant tent beside the lobster boat lined river.

Saturday June 6th: We will kick things off with the Grand Tapas Party where small bites from around the world are on the menu.  Then we will go to Brews and Tunes were will will enjoy music and live music in a park. Finally, the food events come to a close with the Grand Finale Party at David’s KPT. David’s is a new hotspot located beside the Kennebunk River, and I heard last year’s finale party was a blast.

June is the perfect time to visit the Kennebunks. The weather is warm, and town is buzzing with activity the week of the Kennebunkport Festival. The town is very walkable, which means that visitors don’t really need to drive anywhere once they make it to town. To plan your trip to Kennebunkport, check out The Kennebunkport Guide.

Of course I will be writing about the Kennebunkport Festival events here, and you can follow along (take a virtual vacation with me) via instagram by following @thekittchen

Your itinerary looks like so much fun! My Grandpa lives in Maine so I have the pleasure of traveling there every year - I've loved visiting Kennebunkport as well as enjoying all the foodie spots in Portland. Can't wait to see your recap of the events!

Cheers,
