8 Ways to Spend Father’s Day with Dad

Sharing is caring!

Sailing 1

It’s Father’s Day, and the best way to celebrate is by spending quality time with your dad. If you need ideas on things to do, here are some fun (plus easy and inexpensive!) ways to celebrate Father’s Day with dad and the whole family.

Plant a Garden 2

1. Plant a Garden

This is a fun family project that can continue for months. Start with small plants instead of seeds since it is later in the season. If you are a gardening beginner, try planting herbs like chives, basil, and mint, which are easy to care for. You can even personalize your gardening project by planting some of your dad’s favorite vegetables.

2. Attend a Minor League Baseball Game

The cost for a family of four to attend a minor league baseball game and to eat while there, is one-half to one-third of the cost of attending a major league baseball game. Rooting for your minor league home team is a fun way to enjoy an afternoon outside.

Explore Your Town

3. Go For a Bike Ride

Map out a scenic tour of your area. It is up to you if you want to have an intense workout, or a leisurely ride. You can plan out stops along the way too.

4. Try Something New

Sign your family up for surfing lessons, rent kayaks or try paddle boarding. Maybe your family will find a new activity that you can enjoy together.

Historic Landmark

5. Create Your Own City Tour

Does your dad love hot dogs? Create your own hometown hot dog! Is your dad a history buff? Visit historical landmarks in your town. Or just take the day to explore a part of your area that you are unfamiliar with.

6. Get Competitive

Challenge your dad to a game. Horseshoes, bocce, and corn hole are all great lawn games that people of all ages can play. Or, if you prefer to stay indoors, hold a family board game tournament.

7. Make a Splash

If you live near the water, hit the high seas and sail either on the ocean, or on a local lake. Sailing is a fun family activity and a nice way to relax. If you don’t have your own boat you can venture out on a sail boat charter, or enjoy a scenic ferry ride.

National Park

8. Visit a Nearby National Park

There are 59 National Parks in the United States, each selected for its natural beauty and each with a wide selection of recreational activities. These landmarks are the perfect place to spend time with your family outside.

Hopefully these eight ideas will inspire you to enjoy the warm summer weather and have a great day with your dad!
