A list of thoughtful and memorable teacher gift ideas under $50. I’ve assembled a collection of gifts that includes practical items, little luxuries, games, and a DIY option.
Selecting a gift for your child’s teacher can be a challenge! You want something more unique and personal than yet another mug. I am sharing my picks for gifts that will hopefully stand out from the rest.
In addition to giving teachers a gift or two, I also include a card/thank you note and a gift card. Every school has its own norms – another reason why shopping for teachers is such a challenge! I recommend asking around since sometimes room parents put together a group gift.
Teacher Gift Ideas
Mount Cleverest
A true or false trivia game that is fun for all ages.
A Set Six of Ornaments
This set of mercury glass ornaments is under $40 and would help to dress up any Christmas tree.
Nail Conditioner
This viral nail conditioner is basically a nail polish that improves the condition of your nails. The “original” color is a subtle classic light pink color that goes on super smooth, dries fast, and has lasted me 10 days.
Rechargeable Hand Warmers
Help keep your child’s teacher warm while they are outside for recess in the winter cold. These rechargeable hand warmers can be slipped into a pocket or into a pair of gloves to keep their hands warm. These hand warmers have three heat levels and stay charged for up to 20 hours.
Knitting Kit
For a teacher who enjoys crafting, this beginner’s knitting kit has all the supplies and instructions to knit a hat. In the end, they get a new hat and a new hobby.
Gourmet Waffle Mix and a Mini Waffle Iron
This $9.99 mini waffle iron is small and easy to use. Gift it along with some gourmet waffle mix. You could even add a bowl, whisk, and maple syrup. This is one of my favorite teacher gift ideas since there are so many ways to use a waffle maker. You can use it to cook shredded potatoes, meal prep waffles for the week, or make mini pizzas.
Truff Hot Sauce
Truff’s holiday hot sauce kit includes red habanero hot sauce and green jalapeno lime hot sauce. Both are flavored with truffles. The green sauce is mild, while the red sauce has a hot heat.
DIY Teacher Gift Ideas: An Ornament Painted by Your Child
If you want your child to help make a gift for their teacher, I suggest something with a small margin of error. These heart-shaped paper mache ornaments can either be painted or decorated with pieces of tissue paper applied with mod podge. I recommend painting them white or priming with gesso first for best results. Once complete, I seal with a gloss varnish. Not sure what to paint? Let a child marble two shades of the same color together, or use paint pens to add polka dots or hearts.
Italian Chocolates
These Italian chocolates cost $10 and come in a tree-shaped box. This is the perfect little something special – and delicious – to give in addition to a gift card.
