Stir the soy sauce, sugar, garlic powder, and ginger together in a glass bowl.
Either dice the chicken into 2 inch pieces and let it marinate for 1 hour, or keep the chicken breasts whole and let them soak for 2 hours, and then dice.
Soak wooden skewers in water so they won't burn when you grill the chicken.
Place the chicken on the skewers.
Heat a grill or a grill pan over medium high heat. Add the chicken skewers and cook for 3 minutes per side, rotating 3 times. Serve right away.
