How to Host Brunch without Cooking

I recently hosted the most effortless brunch. I hosted 20 of my blogger friends from the Windy City Blogger Collective, and only spent an hour pulling the whole thing together. The best part was that I didn’t cook a thing! Wondering how I managed to host a brunch without cooking? I will let you in on my secrets.

The difference between brunch and breakfast can be summed up in one word: MIMOSAS. Go big.

Offer a variety of juices (we had watermelon, pineapple, and orange) and champagne, prosecco, and sparking wine. Add some pretty paper straws and you are all set.

Next source pastries from your local bakery. The French bakery near my home, La Fournette, has the most amazing croissants so I picked up a dozen.

Then hit your grocery store. That is where I picked up some muffins, fruit salad, and yogurt. We had plenty of food, and it made for a beautiful spread.

Add an activity. Doodles Doughnuts also happens to be in my neighborhood and they made doughnuts with white icing and sell coloring frosting so that you can doodle on your doughnut. It’s the most fun activity/food that you could serve at a party.

I was seriously impressed with the designs everyone drew!

Since I was hosting this party for my bloggers, I thought it would be fun to bring in Stylisted so that they could do hair. When bloggers get together, photos happen – lots of them. And the fashion bloggers shoot looks for their sites – so why not have great hair? Plus, it was Saturday so everyone left the brunch with party ready hair.

The thing that made my brunch exceptional was the venue. I teamed up with my friend, the incredible Debi Lilly to host the brunch at her event space, DL Loft.

Debi is an event planner and floral designer, and she very kindly provided florals for the brunch. The coolest thing is that you can get Debi’s floral arrangements and products at Safeway Albertsons stores (including Jewel-Osco).

Huge thanks for Debi for all of her help! For more information on DL Loft head over here – it’s a wonderful space for parties, plus it has two bedrooms and it is available for rentals.
