Eating in San Diego and Tijuana

Sharing is caring!

I love going to visit friends and trying out their favorite restaurants. I spent Memorial Day weekend visiting friends who live in Tijuana and they showed me a fantastic time. There was plenty of food during my four day visit. Monday I posted about the tacos I ate during my trip – but I also ate other foods – so here are some photos!

My friend lives right by Cafe de la Flor and she was excited to take me there for breakfast. She recommended getting an omelet with the chipotle crema and I was happy that I listened. The omelet was filled with bacon, cheese, and tomatoes. I also had a mocha that warmed me up on the slightly chilly morning.

On Saturday night we went out in Ocean City to see our friend’s band play at Mother’s Saloon. After a night of music and beers we needed a snack so we headed to Newport Pizza and Ale House. We ordered the pizza called the David Hasselhoff which has garlic, mozzarella, basil, tomato, and ricotta. It was fantastic. We might have even eaten the leftovers for breakfast the next day.

Picnic from Bayside Market in Coronado

The next morning we headed to Coronado Beach. The beach was lovely and the weather was sunny and warm. On our way to the beach we spotted at Boney’s Bayside Market for snacks and sandwiches. I had the Coronado Chicken Club sandwich which had chicken, chipotle aioli, lettuce, tomato, provolone, and avocado on focaccia. I would highly recommend it. Bayside’s sandwiches might seem a touch pricy, but they can easily feed two people. I also had some chicken caesar pasta salad. It was fresh chicken, pasta, parmesan, and basil with caesar dressing. I think that I am going to have to recreate it. I am not usually a fan of pasta salad but this is an exception.

For my last breakfast in town we went to Crest Cafe in San Diego. I had my mind set on ordering something totally different, but I saw a kid eating Eggs Florentine and I had to have it. We thought it was funny to see a kid eating something so adult. It was a very good Eggs Florentine, but I was still a bit jealous when I saw my friend’s breakfast.

I had an absolutely fantastic time in Tijuana/Ocean Beach/San Diego/Coronado with my friends. I am now back home in Chicago where I will be kicking off some healthy eating.
